Pomara
Description
Bursting with the glow of Mediterranean sunsets. Pomara is a small, pear-shaped vase, that carries the warmth of ripe citrus and sun-soaked earth. Its deep blood-orange hue, and circular handles bring a playful touch to rustic elegance.
Pomara’s form is based on utilitarian vessels from the ancient Mediterranean, particularly the Greek amphorae dating from the 6th to 3rd century BC.
Its rounded, pear-like body echoes containers used for oils, perfumes, and water, while the wide looped handles reference the practical ceramic lugs found on amphorae and storage jars. These side handles were used for lifting, carrying, or suspending jars with rope.
Pomara is not decorative for decoration’s sake. It continues a shape that was designed for everyday use over two thousand years ago, simplified for the present.
